Methacrylates, highlighted products:

EBECRYL® TMPTMA: Trimethylolpropane Tri-methacrylate, CAS N°: 3290-92-4, is a tri-functional monomer that displays high reactivity and hardness while being low viscous and hydrophobic. TMPTMA is also excellent in outdoor weatherability

  • High hardness

  • Low viscous and hydrophobic

  • Excellent in outdoor weatherability

EBECRYL® PEG200DMAPolyethylene Glycol 200 Di-methacrylate, CAS N°: 25852-47-5, is a di-functional monomer that is aliphatic, hydrophilic and flexible. The low viscous PEGDMA acts as co-monomer to improve mechanical properties and chemical resistance.

  • Aliphatic

  • Hydrophilic

  • Very flexible

Different properties – a multitude of uses:

The versatility of the methacrylate backbone chemistry opens up a variety of chemical and physical properties that add performance in different application fields. The flexible and low viscous EBECRYL® PEG200DMA is the material of choice for anaerobic adhesives or liquid cure in place gaskets. While the high crosslink dense EBECRYL® TMPTMA is suitable as hardener in PVC plastisols or as crosslinker in rubber vulcanization or MMA based composite marble.

In addition, our EBECRYL® TMPTMA (or trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate) and EBECRYL® PEG200DMA (or triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate) are preferred diluting monomers for radical curing systems such as peroxide cured formulations. Next to UV/EB curing where typically the acrylate analogues are preferred, TMPTMA and PEGDMA are excelling in peroxide based crosslinking.

Why use MFMAs in a nutshell?

In radical curing, such as peroxide curing, methacrylates are a preferred technology. In general, methacrylates are thermally resistant, harder, less toxic and more abrasion resistant. Multi-functional methacrylates are low viscous, stable molecules with potentially very high or low Tg (backbone design dependent).
